This is a neat extension: https://github.com/phpbb-seo/usu

Doesn't slow down the server as much as I thought it would, and it and its recommended .htaccess changes rewrites all urls into fake html files for SEO.

That extension is only relevant for versions that are lower than 4 (if/when it comes out) out & as as much as i remember.. it is not fully supported anymore, but i could be wrong about it.

I do not support the idea to mess around with .htaccess file for seo urls as urls should be handled the same way as it is done in extensions.

That is true, they did stop supporting it, but the extension works without a hitch for those who know what they are doing.

And yeah, Controllers are preferable though I still find this pretty neat.

I expect practically no extensions to work on 4, but we both know not to hold our breath for it to come out soon.

Yeah.. it will take years or some major change/s in inner politics for speedup boost/s, but at least there is hope to see 3.4)

Indeed, though I suspect that is going to be a drag too. Not trying to be overly cynical, but it will be at least a year before we get a major version update, and that's an extremely conservative estimate.

If there are any more version releases made this year, it's going to be security and bug fixes.

If 3.3 branch wont end with 3.3.11-12 (based on logic.. 11 should be released very soon) then i consider it as failing of the year & will migrate into master branch.

I just feel that if 3.3.x is going to be mothballed, they would have announced that its successor is coming out soon. Instead, all we have is 4master/4-dev which is not new.

Just curious, do you have a site of your own that’s public?

Not at the moment.. Currently I keep everything offline because my health is still recovering & I need to finish some projects first.
I took a long vacation 2 years ago & only do some coding when I can.
In short.. my own site is not priority at the moment, but i will unfreeze it when I can focus on it fully.

I was actually considering updating this site to the master branch at one point. Though I did not want to have to rework the styles or recreate them by forking the master version of prosilver.

The non-working extensions I could go without.
