Good question.. Hmm.. I think at current moment it's not causing any problems, but it may be a good idea to do it at some point, because no one knows when that section might become popular.

Thanks again for your input.

I disabled post counts for both GD and Board Promotion.

I’m for self-promotion but don’t see why it should count as contribution to the site.

GD was more iffy for me, but I can see how it can be a hotbed for irrelevant chatter. Not a bad thing of course but post count could be interpreted as an indicator of knowledge of phpBB. So I am now starting to see why it was a good idea to turn it off.

I have been looking around the web.. & to be honest.. the more i look around.. the less extension related forums on com make sense. What i mean is that many have over-complicated or no-future ideas.

I would say that simplicity is the key (YT, twitter, twitch etc.), but most want over-complications like old school myspace or something similar combined with heavily modified forum.

Another issue is multiple extensions that have same core functionalities are not shared between each other & that results as bloat + possible issues.

It's a desire for the old web of the 1990s, where it was messy but there was creativity, uniqueness, as opposed to uniformity.

It's also why Custom Coding never went away. People like to create unique things not bound by any rules or "ways of doing things." If they cannot create their own software, they will use a base (such as phpBB) and then make their own unique changes to it specifically for their own site.

It's the spirit of the old net. For better or for worse.

Even using a forum like this one is somewhat of a rebellion against the modern simplistic internet.

Yep.. messy & unique.. To be honest.. I don't miss those sites from 90s or early 2000s.

Creativity is a very good thing, but many just do copy-paste.
Creation (art) is the best way to express for example vision (...etc.) & it's good that many want to create something unique.

But it doesn't change the fact that some want to over-complicate everything with permissions, additions that doesn't suit forum itself or style design that mixes old & new into something that should really be refactored into new independent style, that is not bound to prosilver.

Yeah, prosilver should be replaced. But while there is nothing wrong with disliking the old web and old 1990s style websites, it should be noted that is what many seem to want.

Imperfection has its charm to some.

Would you find it problematic if I were to install an extension to move all profiles to the left? I prefer them on the left but I don't know if you'd prefer them to remain on the right.

On my forum the mini-profiles are positioned to the left of the topics, which I personally find better.
There is an extension that allows each member to decide if they want to display the mini-profiles on the left or on the right. Extension is Profile Side Switcher

Thanks, I just installed that.

Anybody can change the position now through their UCP > Board preferences > Edit display options > Post profile side

I don't know which side is best.. Both sides do the same thing anyway)
I guess nowadays standard seems to be left side.
